COVID-19 NOTICE – RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS ONLY

On June 17, 2020, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law amendments to the Public Service Law that prevent municipalities from terminating water service to residential customers for non-payment of an overdue charge during the COVID-19 state of emergency. Additionally, all water suppliers must notify residential customers of the protections afforded under the law.

Please be advised that the Village of Suffern will not terminate water service during the COVID-19 state of emergency and for an additional 180 days after the COVID-19 state of emergency expires. If you are a resident and have experienced a financial hardship due to the COVID-19 state of emergency, you may enter into a deferred payment arrangement (DPA) with the Village of Suffern without the imposition of deposits, late fees, or penalties associated with your water service. The law does not eliminate your obligation to pay any charges, including any past due penalties, prior to the date that a DPA is entered into with the Village of Suffern. Please contact the Water Billing Department (waterbills@suffernny.gov or 845-357-2600) if you are interested in entering into a DPA.
